Rainbow Swirl

You will learn how to stitch dyed pine needles onto a prepared gourd using artificial sinew. You will learn how to evenly divide the gourd into sections to create 3 swirling patterns.  You will have the choice of colors to create your own rainbow design.

Students must bring: sharp scissors, small needle nose plyers, fine tipped wire cutters

Students will learn tol create a wall hanging or ornament  use alcohol inks for finishing; then weave a teneriffe design in top of a Gourd cut out approximately 4-5", they will add a waxed thread coiled rim around it & then 4-braided  hanger. Various beads or embellishments will be available if desired.

Students must bring: Sharp Scissors & heat gun or hair dryer

Blended Alcohol Ink Iris

Create a delicate Iris with the use of controlling the alcohol inks & enhances with pen & ink (pointillism). Student will learn how to use liquid mask & apply the alcohol inks and smoothly blend the colors and avoid any running of the inks.

Students must bring: A clean cut and ready gourd any shape, size of the pattern is 6" height X 5" wide. The gourd should be at least 7 1/2" tall, 91% alcohol and pallet.

Gourdon the Sheep With Powertex Easy 3D Flex

Trouble sleeping? You can "count" on Gourdon to help you out. We will learn to construct our curly friend our of a cannon ball gourd, screws, foil and other household materials. We will learn how to mix and use Powertex 3D Flex clay to give him that great curly haired texture. These technique can be used over & over again to create interesting texture in future gourd projects. The best part is, no dust! Unlike Stone Art Clay, 3D Flex is practically dust free while mixing.

Students must bring: A box of disposable gloves. (Bring a whole box, this is really messy fun!)
Paint brush for detail painting and one for larger area painting or a sponge brush.
A heat gun for drying as needed.
Pen and paper for additional note taking if desired.
An apron or smock.

In this class you'll learn methods to sculpt and paint an amazing rainbow trout from a banana gourd and QuikWood over a cardboard infrastructure.

Luffa insert for Gourd Vase

In this fun new class you will learn a brand new technique of preparing and using luffa as an insert in gourds. Several different examples will be shown. This class will focus on preparing the luffa for inserting into a precut furnished gourd. The students will stain the gourd and the insert the luffa into the cut-outs. The class should result in a finished gourd and a lot of future possibilities for projects with this exciting new process.

The student will need to bring gloves for staining the gourd.
