Description: Come learn this wonderful "mudding" technique created by Margot Clark. The student will create this wonderful gourd bell of snowy trees and snowflakes. If you have ever wanted to "try the technique" but not invest a lot of money, here is your opportunity. The instructor is supplying everything for this class. Come enjoy the fun, and learn a new technique.

Renaissance Love Affair Two Gourd Trading Shards (Short Class)

Description: Did you love the new idea of Gourd Artist Trading cards? Ready to swap? Don't have a shard to swap, then come and make two gourd art trading shards for the romantic at heart! We will explore several mixed media techniques from my book Gourd Artist Trading Shards released last year. Learn techniques from start to finish on 2 1/2 inch gourd shards and then come to the Powertex vendor booth inside and start the swap with us! Techniques will include: Peeled paper technique, stamping, tissue paper image transfers, inking, washi tape resist, acrylic paint, and gold leaf.


Students must bring:
A box of disposable gloves, if desired.
Small and medium paint brushes for detail painting.
A heat gun for drying as needed.
An apron or smock.
Paper and pen for note taking as desired.

Fun with Feet

Description: This is a technique class that demonstrates various ways to all four different ways of making feet for your gourd critters. You’ll learn how to make beaded bird feet, simple bear feet, cute penguin feet and advanced work for doing dragon legs with toes and claws along with the ways to attach each style with their appropriate infrastructures. Participants are encouraged to bring a gourd animal to practice the hands-on for applying at least one type of foot style to a gourd.

Fairies At Midnight and Cloisonn’e Mandala Two Gourd Trading Shards (Short Class)

Description: Did you love the new idea of Gourd Artist Trading cards? Ready to swap? Did you miss another chance to make a beautiful faux cloisonné and play with the dreamy effects of Unicorn Spit glaze. We will use Unicorn Spit to create delicate watercolor effects on your mandala of choice, made using oven baked medium. Then we will play with Unicorn spit to dream up our own mini midnight galaxy sky, complete with a tiny moon fairy and a dash fairy dust! We will make two gourd art trading shards then you can come inside to the Powertex vendor booth and swap again! Techniques will include: Instructions on how to create embellishments using oven baked medium, adhering and decorating the mandala with Unicorn Spit glaze, creating galaxy effects with Unicorn Spit, and proper sealing techniques.


Students must bring:

Knotless Netting Spinner Gourd

Description: Learn how to apply knotless netting to a spinner gourd. Should time allow, students will be shown how to add beads to their project. Knowledge of how to do a basic crochet chain stitch and make a ring is helpful. This technique can also be used on rocks or other projects.
